When the Prosecco is “SUPERIORE”

The area is located in the Veneto region. 50 km from Venice, in the hills of the province of Treviso, between the towns of Conegliano and Valdobbiadene, located at the same distance from the Dolomites and the Adriatic, a combination that positively influences the climate.

The area is difficult to cultivate, but fascinating, thanks to the vineyards of high hills from steep slopes, where it is difficult to even stand without falling. Here growers have won every inch of the hill, creating a unique landscape, the beauty of which is demonstrated by the willingness to nominate the area for World Heritage (UNESCO) process that began a few years.

The production area comprises fifteen municipalities and covers an area of approximately 20,000 hectares.

The vine is cultivated only in the sunniest part of the hills at an altitude of between 50 and 500 meters above sea level, while the north side is mostly covered with woods.

From legal register there are only 5,000 hectares of vineyards, and just over 100 hectares are in Cartizze, in the town of Valdobbiadene, between the villages of Saccol, St. Pietro and St. Stefano di Barbozza.

The climate is mild throughout the area, with extremely cold winters and warm, dry summers, so that historically the noble Venetians loved to spend summer holidays in these places to escape the sultry lagoon.
Prosecco produced in Valdobbiadene represents the synthesis between history and quality "naturally" Superior. Conegliano, the heart of the wine culture, is home to the first Wine School in Italy and the first Experimental Institute for Viticulture, Valdobbiadene, the heart of the production, home to the largest concentration of vineyards high hill. Finally, there is a third component: women and men with a passion for their land and their product have expressed and express the inimitability, uniqueness of the wine of Valdobbiadene.

Through an extraordinary story, Valdobbiadene has built, over time, the success of Prosecco, creating a modern Italian Style of drinking, casual and cheerful, appreciated and loved all over the world.

Prosecco di Valdobbiadene DOCG recognized in 2009, is the top of the quality pyramid in the world Prosecco, wine produced exclusively in the Veneto region in north-eastern of Italy.
